Plateau United 2-0 Wikki
Tourists
Plateau United handed league
leaders Wikki Tourists a 2-0 defeat,
as Daddy Francis and Anayo
Ogbonna both got on the score-
sheet at the Rwang Pam Stadium
on Sunday.
United got off to a bright start as
they put pressure on the Wikki
Tourists defence in the opening
exchanges, but the hosts were
unable to really test Emeka
Nwabulu.
Despite a dominant performance
in the first 45 minutes, the hosts
surprisingly failed to find the back
of the net.
The second half was all United, as
the Jos-side dominated in terms
of possession and chances
created, with a number of shots
coming in from range.
They were duly rewarded after a
great control from substitute
Daddy, who slotted home in the
70th minute. Anayo made it 2-0 to
United eight minutes later, with a
composed finish.
The loss for Wikki is their sixth
defeat of the season and they still
remain in 1st position in the
Nigeria Professional Football
League standings with 41 points,
while Plateau United are still in the
relegation zone with 26 points.
Enugu Rangers 2-1 Warri Wolves
Enugu Rangers kept the pressure
on leaders Wikki Tourists with a
2-1 win over Warri Wolves at the
Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium on Friday
night.
The Flying Antelopes recorded
their 11th league win to close the
gap on Wikki Tourists, who lost
2-0 against Plateau United.
Rangers were irresistible in the
first half, and played some
impressive, one-touch football.
Both of their goals came during
this period through Obinna
Nwobodo and Godwin Aguda.
The hosts took the lead in the 7th
minute when Nwobodo slotted
the ball into the net after a
brilliant interplay with Chidiebere
Okolie and Aguda.
Rangers, who played very well in
front of their fans, made it 2-0 in
the 39th minute when Aguda
buried his spot kick to the left
hand side of Dele Ajiboye's post.
Wolves fought back. They were
rewarded for their efforts when
Zinte Udeh benefitted from a slow
reaction by goalkeeper Bonsu to
score in the 43rd minute.
But the Flying Antelopes held on
to grab an important win at home.
Heartland FC 2-0 Akwa United
Heartland FC were back to winning
ways courtesy of a 2-0 victory over
Akwa United on Saturday.
Goals from substitute Omo
Johnson and Chinedu Efugh
secured all three points for
Heartland at the Dan Anyiam
Stadium.
The Naze Millionaires showed
promising signs in the first half
but they failed to score.
Former Kano Pillars forward
Johnson was introduced early in
the second half, to add bite to the
blunt attack of the hosts and it
was a decision that paid off.
Johnson opened the scoring in
the 61st minute. The skillful player
broke free on goal and the former
Dolphins attacker took a few
touches before slipping the ball
beyond Victor Obiowo.
The home side were deserved 2-0
leaders in the 84th minute thanks
to Chinedu Efugh's goal.
Heartland are 17th on the log with
26 points while Akwa United are
7th with 32 points.
El-Kanemi Warriors 1-0 Lobi
Stars

over 10-man Lobi Stars in a
Nigeria Professional Football

Kanemi Stadium on Saturday
afternoon.

as early as the fourth minute.
However, Ibrahim Mustapha's
stepped up and saw spot-kick
saved by goalkeeper John
Lawrence.
The home side continued to try
their luck from range and in the
14th minute Chinedu
Ohanachom's effort was easily
saved by Lawrence.
Lobi Stars had the chance to
shock the home team, but
Anthony Okpotu missed despite
having George Michael at his
mercy.
12 minutes before the break,
Ohanachom's attempt was finger
tipped over by Stars keeper
Lawrence.
Lobi Stars were dealt a massive
blow when Lawrence was sent off
for a second bookable offense
late in the first stanza.
Substitute goalkeeper Chigozie
Agbim was called into action two
minutes after the restart when he
gathered Hashim Haliru's shot.
Former Enugu Rangers keeper
Agbim continued to be the busier
of the two shot-stoppers as he
safely held on to Mustapha's shot
two minutes later.
Warriors continued to pile the
pressure onto the Stars defence
and fourteen minutes from time
Agbim parried away a brilliant
effort from Mustapha.
In the 88th minute, Umar Zango
unleashed a shot which was well-
saved by Stars shot-stopper
Agbim. Nevertheless, Malika
grabbed the winning goal for
Warriors at injury time.
Kano Pillars 5-0 Abia Warriors

Warriors 5-0 in their Nigeria
Professional Football League
match at the Sani Abacha Stadium
Stadium, in Kano, on Sunday
afternoon.

improve their points haul to 36

bid to win the league title.
10 minutes into the game in Kano,
Rabiu Ali was on hand to deposit
the ball into the back of the net
from the penalty spot for a 1-0
lead.
Pillars had their second with 44
minutes gone.
The Abia Warriors defence were
caught napping and Razaq
Adegbite showed great
composure to score his first goal
in the colours of Pillars.
Bala Zakka was too motivated to
miss as he made it 3-0 to Pillars in
the 45th minute.
It was 4-0 to Pillars in the 81st
minute as Abia Warriors were left
in tatters. The pass came in from
Gambo Mohammed for Ali who
produced a good strike to find the
back of the net.
In the 90th minute, the massacre
was complete as Pillars smashed
in their fifth with Nafiu Kabuga the
scorer.
Shooting Stars 2-2 FC Ifeanyi
Ubah
FC Ifeanyi Ubah kept their
continental ticket dream on
course with a fight back 2-2 draw
at Shooting Stars on Sunday.
Two late goals in the space of two
minutes from the Anambra
Warriors ensured that the
interesting four-goal thriller ended
in a stalemate.
It was the hosts who struck first
on ten minutes when Agogu
Ebitimi scored his second goal in
two games for the Oluyole
Warriors.
Both sides created chances but
weren't clinical.Although, the
game burst to life in the final
fourteen minutes.
Shooting Stars were two goals up
thanks to Wahab Afolabi's effort.
However, the away side recovered
beautifully and substitute Tamen
Medrano scored from the penalty
spot in the 80th minute.
FC Ifeanyi Ubah remained resilient
and in one of those move forward,
Onyebuchi Ajunwa equalised with
eight minutes left on the clock.
The visitors were reduced to ten
men after Elu Wilson was sent off
for a second bookable offense
late in the highly entertaining
fixture.
Shooting Stars pushed forward at
injury time and looked the most
likely to steal the three points, but
they were frustrated by the Nnewi-
based side.
Nasarawa United 1-0 Niger
Tornadoes
Nasarawa United defeated Niger
Tornadoes 1-0 courtesy of a strike
by Abdulrahman Bashir as they
picked up their tenth win of the
season.
Tornadoes held their own, even
though they missed a few sitters
as Nasarawa United custodian
Suraj Ayeleso displayed some
impressive goalkeeping moves to
deny the Ikon Allah Boys
the share of the spoils.
One of Ayeleso's impressive
moments was when he stopped
Daniel Jackson's spot kick late in
the first half.
The Solid Miners went into the
game on 27 points against
Tornadoes who had 29 points.
Both teams were however
separated by Bashir's 22nd
minute strike.
